Micro Elements of Music Videos

Micro Elements are shown through the small details such as...

Mise En Scene
- Props
- Costumes
- Settings
- High key and low key lighting
- Positioning of characters and objects within the frame and colour

Sound
- Ambient sound
- Diagetic
- Non Diagetic

Editing
- Transitions
- Cross cuts
- Reaction shots
- Shot reverse shot/ 180 degree rule
- Lip syncing
- Cutting rate

Camera
- POV shot
- Close up
- Medium shot
- Master shot

In our music video for 'I'll Lie Here' we intend to use many of these micro elements as these are what make a music video look professional and effective. Throughout our music video we have decided to include a reaction shot near the end of the video, POV shots will be important to use as the audience are seeing the singer/main character through his views and thoughts although some of the shots will be establishing the character. A narrative of a music video is also another important micro element that I haven't mentioned which we intend to base our video on especially as our genre is Acoustic Indie because most similar artists use a narrative to support our video.
